I am a complete beginner to yoga and I don't know any of the moves. Will I be out of my depth in one of your classes?
If you are a complete beginner, please call reception ahead of your class so that you can discuss your goals with one of our yoga advisers. Our yoga specialists can ask you about your expectations and hopes and can make suggestions regarding classes and teachers. We are delighted to share our own experiences and knowledge with our new students.
You may also wish to consider a private so that you can have dedicated one on one time with one of our teachers who can cater to your particular questions and needs. Call reception for rates, and a mutually convenient time can be arranged with a teacher of your choice or one recommended by us.
Rule of thumb for those new to hot or warm yoga: listen to your body and always go at a pace comfortable to you, rest whenever you need to, and hydrate throughout the class. Earth prides itself on creating a friendly supportive mood of non-competition and non-judgement.
What should I wear?
Comfortable stretch clothing as you would wear in a gym. Be prepared to sweat as if you were in a sauna. Bring extra clothes to change into afterwards.
Can I eat before yoga?
Make sure you eat your last full meal at least 2 hours before a class. You should keep hydrated before, during, and after class.
How HOT is it?
The temperature is maintained at between 90 and 100 degrees F. Each teacher will gauge the needs and mood of the class. The heat can be additionally controlled by opening and closing the studio door and the windows to allow in fresh air.
Please note that not all classes are heated. Please check the online schedule under class descriptions to check ahead of time or ask at reception. Rule of thumb - in winter all classes will be heated to make the ambient temperature comfortable (approximately 75-80 degrees). The teacher, depending on the type of class, will then raise the temperature slightly. In summer, heat may be lowered depending on the mood of the class and on the outside temperature.
Earth management is very mindful of the health and well-being of our students and will always err on the side of lowering rather than increasing heat.
What if I just had an injury, am pregnant or have a cardiac illness?
We recommend that you consult with your doctor before starting a yoga regimen. Let the front desk and the yoga teacher know of your situation. You will be required to sign a Release and Waiver Form stating that you understand that you assume the risk of yoga practice when you attend class here.
